Geek Night

Geek

We are currently looking for CSIF members who would be interested in hosting a Geek Night over the coming year.

Geek Nights happen every 3rd Thursday of the month and is an opportunity for you to demonstrate a piece of equipment, software or technique that you have learned - almost anything film/video production/post orientated is acceptable.   A presentation can be 15 minutes or an hour long.

Geek Night is a great way to share with and meet others in your community.

If you are interested in hosting a Geek Night, or would like more information email Dave

The 18th Annual $100 Film Festival runs March 4-6, 2010

The festival showcases three days of low budget, independent, short films on film.   Each night's program plays at the PLAZA Theatre (1133 Kensington Rd. NW) and starts at 7pm.

This year's festival also showcases a world premiere performance by visiting artist Amanda Dawn Christie.  She will premiere her 16mm performance on Friday March 5 at the end of the shorts program.   She will also run a workshop on Saturday March 6, teaching local artists her 16mm performance skills.   The workshop is $100 per person, and the artists will be asked to take part in a performance at the closing ceremonies of the festival later that evening.  For more information, go here.

You are also invited to join us for the $100 Film Festival Closing Ceremonies and Wrap Party on Saturday March 6 after the last shorts program.  The ceremonies will include the Award Presentations of beautiful sculptural trophies and cash prizes to five filmmakers.  Both the final program and wrap party are rated 18A and will take place at the PLAZA Theatre.
