About this Event
A lecture on the aesthetic of Diary Film as a tool for reflective self-exploration.
The Diary Film is a form of personal cinema which helps us to connect with the reality around us and to better understand ourselves through our way of seeing and thinking. In short, it’s a contemporary form of art therapy.
This lecture, followed by a Q&A, will cover: the way diary films observe our reality, Avant Garde filmmaking of the 60s and 70s, the use of voice in diary films, and how personal cinema acts as a ritual.
Armando Salazar’s work explore space, subject, time as a narrative, family and social ties, and the construction of identity. His work on diary films comes from a personal archive of about 100 recorded hours which began in 2008. And it’s still growing!
